- Survey Department Manager
Description
Engineering firm in Middle Tennessee is seeking a licensed and experienced Surveyor to join our growing team as the Survey Department Manager. This position oversees all operations of the survey department including project management, scheduling field crews, ensuring high technical quality, staff development, project delivery, client relationships, and financial performance of the survey department. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with leadership, business development, and operational management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise surveyors, field crews, and CAD technicians.
- Plan, organize, and oversee all survey projects from proposal to completion.
- Develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
- Oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA, construction staking, utility, and as-built surveys.
- Review and certify survey deliverables as required.
- Implement and maintain best practices for data management and field-to-finish workflows.
- Communicate with and coordinate work with engineers, consultants, clients, and contractors.
Qualifications
State of Tennessee Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required.
- 8+ years of progressive surveying experience, including supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of surveying principles, procedures, and state regulations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey processing software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
